Q- Are you happy with your garden?

Satisfied? This doesn’t begin to describe how I feel about my garden! I am ecstatic about the renovation! I undertook this major investment for a number of reasons. I see my backyard as an extension of my home in the summer – it becomes another very important room.

As a result I wanted something that was in keeping with the interior design of the Victorian house, that could be used for client meetings (I run a business out of my home), where I could work in the summer instead of being confined to my ‘office’, that is aesthetically pleasing, reflects the ‘older’ neighbourhood in which I live, that serves as a restful place to entertain, will increase the value of my property and, oddly enough, will contain a ‘Husky’ – a breed of dog that can jump over 6 foot fences, chews through wood as if it is paper and can dig under anything you put in its way (I suspect this latter point was the most challenging that Edelweiss had to deal with). All my needs were met and I now have a beautiful, functional back patio and yard. Compliments flow from not only my neighbours, but also from strangers who stop to look at the results and give me glowing comments.

Q- What have you appreciated the most in your landscaper?

As a business owner and a home owner (I have an old home – lots of renovations have been required over the years), I have appreciated the following about Edelweiss’ approach to business:

• Always on time (in fact Edelweiss started both projects ahead of schedule!)
• Considers my relationships with my neighbours - the company goes out of its way to inform my neighbours of activities about to be undertaken and keeps them happy through the process
• Cost effective – not the cheapest!
• Approaches desired changes fairly
• Flexible
• High standard of business ethics
• Clean, neat, POLITE, friendly (without being intrusive) and hard working staff – from the President to the daily workmen

Q- Have you developed a special relationship of trust with your landscaper?

I have already recommended Edelweiss to others (something I will not do lightly since a referral always reflects on MY judgment). I count on Edelweiss to provide counsel on other aspects of my home which will be affected by the renovations (for example the gutter upgrades and location). Additionally, I trust that I do not actually have to be present when work is being undertaken because I know that it will be done professionally, corners will not be cut for ‘profit’ and that timelines and boundaries will be respected.

Q- What will you especially remember from your experience?

I think Edelweiss has restored my faith with respect to hiring firms to work for me on other renovations to my home. However, Edelweiss has now set new standards regarding what I will look for in other contractors. Patrick Edelmann has been a pleasure to work with – adaptable, firm in his beliefs yet willing to explore new approaches, willing to tackle new challenges (who designs a backyard with a dog’s safety in mind?). All members of his staff have been wonderful – unbelievably hard working even in the face of adversity. Very bad weather did not stop the project! Quirks of the property did not stop the project! Just a great team! Was it worth the investment? You bet!
